“Norway’s oil fund also this year delivered a tremendously strong report with top class analytical information,” said the Oslo-based Farmand jury, which has handed out annual report awards since 1955.

The jury credited NBIM for clearly defining its goals and strategy in the 2010 report, illustrating the organisation’s mission to safeguard and build wealth for future generations through its management of the fund.

“Praise should also be given for easily explaining the fund’s contribution to, and effect on, fiscal policy,” the jury said in its evaluation. “The notes are as usual very detailed and comprehensive. The use of charts and tables also makes it easy for the reader to interpret trends and developments.”

The Farmand jury hands out prizes for the best annual report by a public institution, a listed company and a non-listed company.
