NBIM Hosts its First Financial Research Conference

Norges Bank Investment Managment (NBIM), manager of the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, is today hosting its first financial research conference.

30 August 2011

The conference is organised under the Norwegian Finance Initiative (NFI), newly set up by NBIM to promote financial economic research and education in areas relevant to the long-term management of the fund. These include asset pricing and portfolio theory, corporate finance, corporate governance and market microstructure.

“New insight from financial economic research may have important implications for the fund’s management, so it’s important for us to support such research,” says NBIM CEO Yngve Slyngstad. “We hope today’s conference and the establishment of the NFI will strengthen NBIM’s ties with the academic community.”

Norges Bank Governor Øystein Olsen and NBIM CEO Yngve Slyngstad will host the conference. Other speakers include Axel Weber, former president of the German Bundesbank, Kenneth Froot, Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, Kenneth French, Professor of Finance at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Lasse Pedersen, Professor of Finance and Alternative Investments at NYU Stern School of Business and Stanley Zin, Professor of Economics and Business at NYU Stern School of Business.
