  • Yngve Slyngstad was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Norges Bank Investment Management on 1 January 2008. He joined the organisation in 1998 to head and build its equity management activities. He held the position of Head of Equities between 1998 and 2007.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Slyngstad held the position of Chief Investment Officer Asian Equities at Storebrand Asset Management.

    Mr Slyngstad holds a Master's degree in law  from the University of Oslo and a Master's degree in business management  from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). He also has a Master's degree in economics from the University of California and a Master's degree in political science from the University of Paris. 

  • Trond Grande was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in February 2011. From April of the same year and until the end of 2017, he was also Chief Administrative Officer. From 1 October 2014 to 1 January 2016, he had the day-to-day responsibility for the real estate organisation. Mr Grande joined Norges Bank Investment Management in November 2007 as Global Head of Risk Management and has later also filled the role of Deputy Chief Operating Officer. He was named Chief Risk Officer in October 2009.

    Mr Grande previously spent 11 years at Storebrand Kapitalforvaltning and held positions including Senior Vice President Finance and Senior Vice President Financial Risk Management.

    Mr Grande holds a Master's degree in International Management from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and ESADE in Barcelona. He also has an MBA in finance from the Norwegian School of Economics.

  • Hege Gjerde was appointed Chief Financial Officer on 1 January 2018. She joined Norges Bank Investment Management in October 2004 and has held a number of positions, including Global Head of Corporate Management and Global Head of Corporate Planning and Finance.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Ms Gjerde was Manager in Accenture.

    Ms Gjerde is a business economist with a Master of Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), and a Bachelor of Economics and Administration from the University of Agder. 

  • Dag Huse was appointed Chief Risk Officer on 1 October 2014. Mr Huse joined Norges Bank Investment Management in May 2003 as a Senior Portfolio Manager. He was named Global Head of Investment Risk in October 2012.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Huse held positions at Alfred Berg Norge AS, DnB Investor AS and Elcon Securities AS.

    Mr Huse has a Master's degree in Business from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

  • Ole Christian Bech-Moen was appointed Chief Investment Officer Allocation Strategies on 1 October 2014. He joined Norges Bank Investment Management in 2009 and held a number of positions, including Head of Macro & Portfolio Research and Global Head of Allocation Strategies.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Bech-Moen was a Senior Economist at DnB Markets.

    Mr Bech-Moen has a PhD in Economics from the University of Oslo and a Master of Economics from the London School of Economics.

  • Geir Øivind Nygård was appointed Chief Investment Officer for Asset Strategies on 1 January 2017. He joined Norges Bank Investment Management in August 2007 as a Portfolio Manager in Equity Asset Strategies. He was named Global Head of Equity Asset Strategies in October 2009. From February 2016 to January 2017, he filled the role of Global Head of Portfolio Management.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Nygård worked in Arkwright Consulting.

    Mr Nygård has a Master of Technology, Industrial Economics and Technology Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

  • Petter Johnsen was appointed Chief Investment Officer for Equities on 1 April 2011. Since 1 October 2014 he holds the position of Chief Investment Officer Equity Strategies. He joined Norges Bank Investment Management on 1 September 2003 as a portfolio manager, a position he held until August 2010, when he was appointed Global Head of Sector Strategies.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Johnsen was Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch in London between October 2000 and August 2003. He previously worked as a research analyst at Morgan Stanley in London.

    Mr Johnsen is a business economist with a Master of Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

  • Karsten Kallevig was appointed Chief Investment Officer for Real Estate in Norges Bank Investment Management on 1 April 2019. He came from the position as Chief Executive Officer of Norges Bank Real Estate Management. He joined Norges Bank Investment Management in September 2010 as Global Head of Real Estate Asset Strategies, and was Chief Investment Officer Real Estate from 2011.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Mr Kallevig worked for Grove International Partners. His latest position at Grove was as Head of Japan between May 2006 and June 2010. He was also a partner at the company’s European investment division in London between October 2004 and April 2006. He previously held positions at Soros Real Estate Partners in London.

    Mr Kallevig has a Bachelor of Science (Materials Science and Engineering) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Carine Smith Ihenacho was appointed Chief Corporate Governance Officer on 1 January 2018. She joined Norges Bank Investment Management in August 2017 as Global Head of Ownership Strategies.

    Prior to joining Norges Bank Investment Management, Ms Ihenacho was Vice President Legal and Global Chief Compliance Officer in Statoil ASA. She has more than 20 years’ experience as a lawyer, working in both financials and the oil and gas industry, as well as in law firms. She also has extensive board experience.

    Ms Ihenacho holds a law degree from the University of Oslo, a Master of Law from Harvard Law School and a Master of Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

  • Age Bakker was appointed Chief Operating Officer in October 2009. He joined Norges Bank Investment Management earlier that year as Global Head of IT.

    Mr Bakker has previously held positions within teaching and the investment management industry. He spent 14 years with Storebrand Kapitalforvaltning, most recently as Chief Operating Officer.

    Mr Bakker has a Master’s degree in economics from Vrije University in Amsterdam and an intermediate degree in computer science from the University of Tromsø.

  • Nina Hammerstad was appointed Chief People and Operations  Officer on 1 June 2019. Since 1 October 2014 she held the posistion of Chief Operating Officer of Norges Bank Real Estate Management. She joined Norges Bank Investment Management in September 2011 as Head of Real Estate Asset Management. 

    Prior to joining the fund, Ms Hammerstad worked for PwC as Partner and responsible for advisory services within “Governance, Risk and Compliance”. She has previously held positions at Scandinavian Property Development ASA and Norwegian Property ASA.

    Ms Hammerstad has a Master's degree in Business from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH).

  • Stephen A. Hirsch was appointed Chief Compliance and Control Officer in December 2015. Mr Hirsch previously worked in Norges Bank Investment Management from 1998 to 2010. He became Deputy CEO of the fund in 2008. Between 2008 and 2009 he was also Chief Operating Officer for the fund. From 2004 to 2008 Hirsch held the title of Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Head of Equities. Mr Hirsch joined Norges Bank Investment Management for the first time in 1998 as Senior Portfolio Manager.

    Mr Hirsch has also worked as Chief Investment Officer for the independent investment advisor company Guardian Wealth Advisors. He started his career in the United States Air Force, leaving as a Captain in 1990. 

    Mr Hirsch has a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Minnesota.
