NFI Starts PhD Scholarship Programme

The Norwegian Finance Initiative (NFI) today introduced a doctorate scholarship programme as part of its efforts to promote financial economic research and education in areas relevant to the long-term management of the Government Pension Fund Global.

The NFI PhD Scholarship Programme will provide financial incentives for students to pursue studies at top-ranked international PhD programmes in financial economics. Successful applicants will receive 200,000 Norwegian kroner a year for a maximum five years of study for a PhD.

Norwegian students or individuals closely connected to Norway are eligible for the scholarships. Applicants must also have been accepted to a top-ranked international PhD programme in financial economics for autumn 2012 or later and received a tuition waiver or be subject to a similar tuition arrangement. Applications for the next academic year may be submitted to the NFI between 1 January and 1 April 2012.
