Jan Thomsen

Jan Thomsen joined NBIM as Chief Compliance Officer in February 2010 and was appointed Chief Risk Officer in April 2011. Thomson came from a position as Chief Risk Officer in the industrial group Orkla ASA. His previous work experience includes management positions at the international classifier Det Norske Veritas (DNV). He has also been a consultant with Arthur Andersen /Andersen Consulting, and a teaching assistant at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Jan Thomsen has  a PhD in risk management and change management from Stanford University in California. He also holds a master’s degree in engineering physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and has completed management training in corporate development and strategy at IMD in Switzerland and INSEAD in France.
